Hear with your ears the different directions a song can take in a night, from tour to tour, and year to year. Music is its own life form. It changes and morphs by its own accord. The band obeys and submits to this hierarchy in attempts to hone this highly potent energy. The ..LIVEPANDA.COM.. movement attempts to document this journey and crystallize the magic of improvisation that occurs in our music through the harmonization of song forms and live dub.....We live in a special time together. As musical styles merge and recording techniques progress there will always be a unique mystic and power embedded in the energy of the live experience. It is a circular feed between the audiences and artists of blending vibrations and creativity into one communal meditation.......LIVE UP!! Volume II....LIVE UP!! Volume II is Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad's second documentation of the group's sonic journey together through life and musical creation. In 10 unreleased recordings, LIVE UP!! Volume II showcases the quartet's explorations into new territories of sound and style. The recordings featured were compiled from two shows in GPGDS' March/April 2010 tour from the Southeastern USA through the mountains of Colorado. From an opening set for G. Love & Special Sauce in Fayetteville AR to a packed headliner in Fort Collins CO, LIVE UP!! Volume II selections were hand picked by the band and mixed by their engineer Joel Scanlon. The compilation of live recordings seeks to bring the listener into the improvisational atmosphere that GPGDS prefers to dwell in. The ten tracks flow through each other, often disintegrating from the typical song form into dub inspired soundscapes and rhythmic climaxes. The simple song writing of guitarist Dylan Savage and bassist James Searl is complimented by the multi keyboard stylings of Aaron Lipp on Hammond Organ, Clavinet, and Fender Rhodes, as well as the highly original hard driving rhythms of drummer Chris O'Brian. LIVE UP!! Volume II also represents the first release of material that features all four members of GPGDS on vocals. The outcome is electrified American folk music. Joel Scanlon's live engineering is an atypical real time approach of hands on analog dub improvisation, more representative of a jazz musician then a basic sound monkey adjusting levels. Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad is furthering their embrace of group based improvisation through the art of the simple song. Ultra fast at some points and super slow at others, LIVE UP!! Volume II represents a slew of styles honed by GPGDS. LIVE UP!! Volume II marks the opening the floodgates of many live high quality releases from Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad through their new website ..LIVEPANDA.COM... Thank you and enjoy the music.......Limited Edition CD....LIVE UP!! Volume II will have 500 limited edition copies printed, for sale while supplies last. They will be available starting at the hometown Rochester NY concert taking place on Saturday, September 11 at Water Street Music Hall. Each CD will be hand numbered and the first hundred copies will be signed by the band. The unique eco-friendly cardboard packaging will also be put together by the bands hands. Local blood and sweat was used to make every aspect of this tangible item for you to cherish and add to you musical collection. We are very proud to announce that the artwork of LIVE UP!! Volume II will be our first public collaboration with artist and mystical genius of a best friend Alex "Chops" Fals, native of Naples NY. Alex has a unique style of screen printing that GPGDS is obsessed with and we are very excited to embark on several artistic endeavors together. Please enjoy and look for more of his work in the future. We love you. See you at the shows!......www.GIANTPANDADUB.com........"Truly one of the world's finest roots reggae ensembles..."....- ..CBS Radio Street Date........"This is some of the most intense roots reggae we've ever heard..."....- Knoxville's ..Metro Pulse........"...heavy, air-tight dub and roots reggae pressure..."....- ..Washington Post........"...a viable contributor to the modern reggae movement."....- ..Metro Santa Cruz

T.U.G.G.

The west coast of Wisconsin is not typically thought of as a hotbed of alternative reggae music; however, T.U.G.G. (pronounced tug) hailing from La Crosse, WI has done an amazing job channeling tropical grooves and breezy melodies and has quickly become one of the Midwest's top draws. Coming from a state more known for the Green Bay Packers, cold weather, and cheese, they boast a pretty impressive resume of rubbing shoulders with some real reggae heavyweights. From shows with Barrington Levy and Slightly Stoopid to recording their track "Revolution", which was produced by the legendary Mad Professor and features guest vocals from international reggae star Pato Banton, 2010 & 2011 have started off with a bang and T.U.G.G. continues to prove why they are a fast rising star in the alternative reggae scene. The summer tour to promote their latest album found the band playing 22 shows across 10 states, including a 3 show stint with The Ziggens and a stop at the infamous Moboogie Loft in Denver, CO. Riding their recent success in the Midwest and beyond, they have been able to translate that into growing crowds, bigger shows and better venues. Their latest studio effort, Come Sunrise, a 13 song melting pot of ska, reggae, rock and acoustic music, was not only produced by The Ziggens' Brad Ziggen (Skunk Records), but the record debuted in the Top 40 of the American Reggae Charts on iTunes and spent a miraculous 10 weeks in the Top 10 of the Reggae and Reggae/Rock charts on Cdbaby.com (as did their 2009 EP Slow Chill). In the Spring of 2011, T.U.G.G. was asked by The Dirty Heads (EMG) to provide support in the Midwest for their first ever headlining tour, which included a nearly sold out show at the House of Blues in Chicago on St. Patrick's Day. T.U.G.G. has been fortunate enough to share the stage with: Slightly Stoopid, Barrington Levy, Cage the Elephant, The Dirty Heads, Iration, Karl Denson, Rusted Root, Pato Banton, The Ziggens, The Big Wu, Josh Heinrichs, New Politics, Tech Nine, Shakedown and many more. For more information and to listen to T.U.G.G.'s powerhouse sound, please visit www.tuggmusic.com.
