FANDANGO is as much a spiritual renewal as it is a reinterpretation of some of the best soul, blues, gospel, and Americana music ever written. With a loyal flock of followers (the flock that rock) to their weekly Wednesday night residency at TOAD in Cambridge, FANDANGO fuels frontman Fred Griffeth to lead this congregation into soul and R&B righteousness! For he is like a refiner of fire and he shall purify!

Fandango consists of Fred Bajie Griffeth on vocals, Steve Cuoco on bass, Chris Anzalone on drums, Cliff Spencer on organ with Bob Enik and Kevin Belz sharing guitar duties.

"Fandango are unsung heroes of Boston's soul/gospel/reggae scene. They play every Wednesday at Toad, drawing a fervent audience that belies their under-the-radar media profile. But hopefully their reach will grow thanks to a new, captivating live album taped at Wellspring Sound in Acton. Singer Fred Bajie Griffeth blends a sophisticated, Solomon Burke-like class with an exceptional repertoire, breathing new life into songs by everyone from Taj Mahal and Bob Dylan, to Stephen Foster and Jimmy Cliff, whose anthem of survival, "Many Rivers to Cross,'' has never been interpreted more beautifully.''

--- STEVE MORSE, longtime music reviewer who worked at the Boston Globe for three decades and has contributed to Billboard and Rolling Stone.
