Talia Carner at the Mandel JCC's Festival of Jewish Books and Authors
Book Title: Jerusalem Maiden
Talia Carner's newest novel Jerusalem Maiden was inspired by her family's longstanding roots in Jerusalem. This book tells the story of Esther Kaminsky, an Orthodox Jewish woman in the holy city who struggles to reconcile her passions and artistic talent with the strict religious laws to which she is supposed to adhere. Her journey takes her into new worlds outside her religion, her city and the Holy Land. But when tragedy strikers her family, Esther is forced to come to terms with balancing her beliefs and her passions.
Carner is an Israeli-born author who is known for her heart-wrenching novels Puppet Child and China Doll. She is the former publisher of Savvy Woman magazine and a lecturer at international women's economic forums.
