Book Title: This Burning Land-Lessons from the Front Lines of the Transformed Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
Jennifer Griffin, National Security Correspondent for Fox News, and her husband Greg Myre, Senior Editor of NPR's Morning Edition and former New York Times reporter, were living in Jerusalem in 1999 when the Palestinian uprising erupted. They found themselves raising two young daughters while covering the deadliest fight ever between the Israelis and Palestinians, which is now documented in This Burning Land. Through powerful and vivid accounts in This Burning Land, Griffin and Myre dramatically portray the changes in the conflict over the past decade. The couple witnessed pivotal events and attempted to decipher the thinking that motivates some Palestinians to become suicide bombers while others work as informants for the Israeli security forces. They traveled to the outer most portions of the West Bank where Israeli settlers vow to never give up land. They even accompanied young Israeli troops during midnight raids of militant hideouts. This Burning Land addresses the puzzling scenario that Israel is stronger than ever and yet it still cannot find a way to end the bloody feud with the Palestinians.
