Comedy Returns to El Rio! (Mon, Sept 12)
Kung Pao Kosher Comedy Presents... Comedy Returns to El Rio!
Comedian/comedy producer, Lisa Geduldig, began her stand up comedy career 22 years ago at El Rio in San Francisco's Mission District. In commemoration of her 20th year in comedy, two years ago she launched a monthly comedy night, Comedy Returns to El Rio! the second Monday of the month at the club that first put her onstage.
The Monday, September 12th show features: Josh Healey, Nathan Habib, Conrad Roth, and Lisa Geduldig, & Veronica Porras. Please note: Dhaya Lakshminarayanan will not be appearing as scheduled.
Josh Healey is a nationally recognized writer, organizer, and comedic powerhouse. A cultural activist, he has shared stages and picket lines with Amiri Baraka, Naomi Klein, and Flavor Flav before the reality show. Author of the book "Hammertime," Josh lives in Oakland.
Nathan Habib is one of the youngest comics in the business. His comedy is intelligent and performed with an awkwardly confident attitude. Born in Belgium and raised in Palo Alto, Nathan was brought up in a Jewish Israeli household with a Latvian mother, an Italian raised dad, and two older brothers giving him plenty of diversity and experience to talk about. Currently an undergrad at UC Santa Cruz, Nathan has been doing comedy in his freshman year of high school. He has performed all over the Bay Area with comics such as Arj Barker, Rich Vos, and Robert Duchaine Nathan started doing stand up at his Palo Alto high school at 14, and now at 21 he's still doing performing. Nathan performed at Kung Pao Kosher Comedy last year.
Conrad Roth is a comedian, writer, and potential actor. He was born to Polish immigrants in Texas and raised in New Jersey. Her began performing stand up in Philadelphia while attending Drexel University. In 2008, Conrad co-created "Center City Comedy;" it is currently Philadelphia's most successful comedy show. He appeared on "Comcast Comedy On Demand" three times in the Philadelphia area, then made his national TV debut as a feature comedian on "Bill Bellamy's Who's Got Jokes - Las Vegas." In 2009, Conrad moved to San Francisco and performs nightly throughout the Bay Area.
Veronica Porras was born and raised in San Jose. Her comedy is described as innocence with a hint of sarcasm. She started doing stand up since October 2006 and has appeared with Dave Chappelle and Will Durst. Likeable and fun, her stand up ranges from growing Up non-Mexican, the day job, and her unique view on dating and relationships.
Lisa Geduldig is the creator, producer, & MC of a variety of annual comedy shows: Kung Pao Kosher Comedy; The George Bush Going Away Party; Funny Girlz; A Muslim, A Mormon, and A Jew Walk into A Bar; The Color of Funny; Cafe con Comedy; Charo...
