BEING HUMAN: LITQUAKE PRESENTS BRIAN CHRISTIAN, WITH THOMAS GOETZ
Drawing on a range of disciplines, this conversation between Christian - a bestselling nonfiction author and poet who has appeared on The Daily Show - and Wired magazine editor and author Goetz, explores how discoveries in computer science, genomics, and neuroscience are influencing our understanding of uniquely human characteristics. As science increasingly tests these boundaries, from artificial intelligence to the roots of morality and our capacity to contemplate our own existence, we wonder what will it mean to be human? Book sales and signing to follow. Co-presented by the Bay Area Science Festival.
Brian Christian is author of "The Most Human Human: What Talking with Computers Teaches Us What It Means to Be Alive," a Wall Street Journal bestseller which has been translated into nine languages. He holds degrees in computer science, philosophy, and poetry. Thomas Goetz is executive editor at Wired. Goetz is also the author of The Decision Tree: Taking Control of Your Health in the New Era of Personalized Medicine. He writes frequently for Wired on the confluence of medicine, health, and technology, and his work has been selected for the Best American Science Writing and the Best Technology Writing anthologies.
