Harvey Branch String Band
Harvey Branch String Band features Renana (Nonnie) Gross on banjo, ukulele, and percussion, and Steve Kristoff on vocals, mandolin, ukuleles, and kazoo. HBSB loves to play old-time music on banjo and mandolin. The ukuleles come out for old novelty jazz tunes, blues, and roots music.
The band started when Nonnie got a banjo as a gift from a friend during an extended hospital stay. The friend thought Nonnie might like something to do (like learning the banjo?). Well, she did learn the banjo! Not wanting to be left out of the music making, Steve got a ukulele and starting strumming some chords. Then Nonnie got a uke and Steve got a mandolin and they both started practicing.
Over the last few years they have played all over this end of Indiana including the Metamora Old Time Music Festival, the Muddy Boots Cafe in Nashville, First Friday in Vevay, as well as venues in Batesville, Lawrenceburg, Oldenburg, Mooresville, and West Harrison.
Harvey Branch String Band is sure to set your toys to tapping and will certainly put a smile on your face, and are a welcome addition to the Pixy Theatre's Friday night acoustic series!
