Mozart & Salieri
In spite of the alluring and tenacious myth, Salieri did not contribute to Mozart's early passing. The two composers did, however, fiercely compete for Vienna's best jobs. Hearing these works side-by-side may finally convince you that who you know can be more important than what you know! Concluding the concert is the pinnacle of string orchestra repertoire, Tchaikovsky's String Serenade. No other composition has drawn such dramatic and powerful sound out of 22 string virtuosos.
Salieri: Sinfonia in D "Veneziana" Mozart: Sinfonia Concertante for Violin and Viola Adam LaMotte, violin Heather Bentley, viola Tchaikovsky: Serenade for Strings
