InSIGHT Symposium: Baltimore Painted Furniture
Painted furniture was the home-decorating craze of the young American nation, and nowhere more so than in Baltimore. Join Hampton National Historic Site curator Gregory Weidman, independent painting conservator Deborah Duerbeck Parr, and furniture craftsman David Wiesand for an afternoon's exploration of the history and continuing tradition of painted furniture in Baltimore. The symposium will open with remarks by William Voss Elder III, curator emeritus of decorative arts at The Baltimore Museum of Art. A lightly catered reception with the speakers follows the talks, with viewing of the museum's period rooms and collections.
