The Book of Liz
Poor Liz Donderstock. At the age of twelve, she perfected her own recipe for cheeseballs - traditional and smoky. Since then, she has dedicated her life to making the best cheeseballs in Cluster Haven, her quiet Squeamish religious community. Everything is about to change. With Squeamish communities consolidating and the pressure for profits increasing, Liz's comfortable way of life is under siege. Liz has decided not to wait for weeds to grow in her chive pasture - she will try her luck in the outside world.
Through a series of hilarious coincidences, all goes surprisingly well for Liz as she makes a new life for herself. So well, in fact, that she is up for a promotion at her new job. While most people would be thrilled, Liz finds herself questioning the fast pace of the new life she has begun. Meanwhile, Cluster Haven cheeseballs are not what they used to be and the financial future of the community is at stake.
What will Liz decide? Will she get the promotion? Will the cheeseballs ever taste good again? What is a breakfast burrito? These and other mysteries will be revealed in "The Book of Liz" written by the talent family - Amy and David Sedaris, and directed by Matt Austin at The Brookfield Theatre for the Arts (TBTA). Produced by Joy Tagliavento and Team Okell. The cast includes Kelly Doherty-Luf of Brookfield, Denise Fitzsimmons-Kelly of Danbury, Joe Harding of New Milford, Michael Wright of Newtown, Cindy Maddox of Danbury, Patrick Spaulding of New Fairfield and Chris Sumrell of Woodbury. Tickets are $20 general admission, $15 students. There will be a free preview for Senior Citizens on Thursday, Aug. 25 at 8:00 p.m.
