"Twelfth Night" by William Shakespeare
Bare Theatre returns to comedy with one of Shakespeare's most beloved plays, "Twelfth Night."
After a shipwreck on an exotic coast, a twin sister and brother are separated. The sister, Viola disguises herself as a page boy and enters the service of the duke of the land, whom she quickly falls in love with. He is in love with Olivia, a noblewoman, and he sends Viola to convey his love. Olivia in turn falls in love with Viola, whom she thinks is a young man. To top it all off, Olivia's steward is tricked by local revelers into believing that she loves him!
Disguises, pranks, drunkenness, cross-dressing and general bawdiness will be had in spades in this production, directed by Bare's Managing Director Heather J. Hackford. Award-winning designer, Jeremy Clos costumes the play in lavish Elizabethian costumes, and G. Todd Buker adds original music composition.
