The View from Karachi What the Mega-City Tells us about Pakistan
The World Affairs Council presents Steve Inskeep, author of Instant City: Life and Death in Karachi, for a discussion about Karachi, Pakistan, the nation's booming commercial center and a case in point for Inskeep's study of "instant cities." As a journalist with extensive experience reporting from Karachi, Inskeep will describe the many forces competing to shape the future of one of the world's fastest growing cities, and how acts of violence that have unfolded in this metropolis do not tell the whole story of the city or the country, in which the people of Pakistan are increasingly demonstrating their remarkable resilience.
