Mojo Cannon and the 13th St. Horns & The Atlantics
The Mojo Cannon Band (formerly known as the Curtis Hammond Band) is a high energy 8 piece R&B band from the Seattle area and was a Washington Blues Society "best band" nominee in 2008 and 2013. The band features a talented and soulful rhythm section consisting of Greg Timmons on lead guitar and vocals, Jim Brandt on bass, rhythm guitarist Mark Strom, drummer Steve Thompson, Dave Teitzel on Hammond and Yamaha keyboards along with a stellar three piece horn section (affectionately called the 13 St. Horns) including David Bernhardt on trumpet, John Coffey on tenor and baritone saxes, and Craig "T-Bone" Daly on trombone.
Paul Klein was raised in Oregon and grew up listening to the great Northwest Dance bands like Paul Revere, The Wailers, Kingsmen, Sonics in Junior High. At 17, his life changed when he heard Muddy Waters, and Buddy Guy and Junior Wells and a generous mixture of the San Francisco Psychedelic bands the came through Portland. In 1976, he moved to Bellingham, Washington to join a band called Wet Paint and after a couple great years touring in an old school bus, started another band called Eddie and the Atlantics with the guitarist and friend Jim Fricke. They enjoyed playing in Seattle at the Fabulous Rainbow where they met a great community of local musicians that were part of a great vibrant music scene. The band name was simplified down to "The Atlantics" when Paul assumed leadership for the future of the band, which has been a local favorite in Bellingham for the past 30+ years. "The Atlantics" continue to perform year round at local venues or for special occasions (such as birthdays/weddings/etc.)Basic InfoFounded 1980Genre Sounds like a mixture of boogie, pop rock, and good ol' blues.Members Paul Klein (vocals/piano), Cary Stevens (drums), Bill Tootell (bass guitar), Geeb Johnston (guitar), Mark Kelly (sax)Hometown Bellingham, WAGeneral Manager To book the Atlantics, call Paul at 360-733-2076Influences Ray Charles, Muddy Waters, B.B King, and many others.Current Location Bellingham, WAContact InfoBooking Agent Paul Klein: kleinbham@comcast.net
