Shoah: The Unseen Interviews at Mandel JCC's Leonard Krieger Cleveland Jewis
Documentary, USA, 2011, 55 minutes English
FREE* Community Screening Tickets Required
Join us for a screening and discussion of the rich and extensive interview outtakes from Claude Lanzmann's groundbreaking film SHOAH (1985), selected from the Steven Spielberg Film and Video Archive of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. Lanzmann interviewed more than 70 individuals for SHOAH, and even at 9.5 hours, a wealth of fascinating material did not make the cut. Discover unseen subject matter and individuals filmed by Claude Lanzmann for his epic treatment of the Nazi killing process. You will hear more from the barber at Treblinka, learn about the response of Americans from Peter Bergson, and examine the role women play in Lanzmann's narrative.
