Stormwater Decant Facility Design and Planning

Stormwater infrastructure maintenance has increased regionally due to requirements in the NPDES municipal stormwater permits. As a result, there is a need for developing new stormwater solids decant facilities or expanding existing facilities, which have been overwhelmed with the increased stormwater infrastructure maintenance.

Recognizing the need, Ecology has made funding decant facilities design and construction eligible for grants and loans. This presentation will provide case studies about local governments that opted to build new, or upgrade existing, decant facilities. Participants will learn what to consider and suggestions on who should be involved in the process, and what has seemed to work well and what didn't work well.
