An Introduction to Drawing the Figure (4 classes)
If you have been hesitant to attempt sketching the figure, this workshop may be for you! Our class will utilize a clothed model, as well as other reference material, to learn basic figure drawing concepts. We will explore the excitement of quick gestures with Prismacolor sticks, the beauty of articulate contour lines with markers, as well as the human form emerging through soft values of charcoal and siena pastel, and other media. Come join us for a relaxed introduction to figure drawing.
Novices are welcome!
Participants will share cost of 18" x 24" pack of manilla paper, box of charcoal sticks, pastel sticks, Prismacolor sticks, ink and markers (provided by instructor) and model fee.
Prices: $130 for YAC members and $145 non-members.
Instructor: Constance Pierce, twice exhibited her sketchbooks at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, DC and served as University professor of drawing and painting in New York. She was a prior visiting artist at Millsaps College and research fellow at Yale Divinity School. She has exhibited in NY, CT, OH, PA, MD, NC, MS and recently in Japan.
