Coop to Soup
From animal care to eggs to butchery we will inspect all the different aspects of raising these versatile birds. During a 4-hour intensive class we will field trip to Oakland with Nicole Kramer of FARMcurious to check out two different styles of urban coops. Beginning with caring for and harvesting eggs from chickens, including a light vegetarian lunch, we will get the how-to behind building coops. We will then transition into learning about how to slaughter and butcher chickens in a humane and respectful way. Gifts to get your own coop started included!
Attendees will be responsible for their own transportation, but we will help facilitate a carpool or public transit group.
