Parallel Lives
The beginning, the earth was without form, and void, two Supreme Beings plan the creation of the world with the relish of two slightly acerbic interior designers decorating a split-level in Edina Once they've decided on the color scheme of the races (concerned that white people will feel slighted) they create sex and the sexes. But then women may have too many advantages, the Beings decide to make childbirth "painful" so the best answer is give men enormous ... egos.
