ARTICLE Chad Connor Crow of As the Crow Flies Productions approached me with an idea to produce a Pre-Compression Party to celebrate the coming of Burning Man. After producing the Burnal Equinox last March, I know there is a big Burner culture in our community and was intrigued by the idea! Chad has a great passion for contributing to our community which inspired him to create The Pixies and Jesters Protagonist Ball, A Pre-Compression Party, to be held on Friday, August 12, 2011, a fundraising event that will benefit SYRCL, Hospitality House, Alliance for Wellbeing and the new dance floor in the Osborn/Woods Hall at the Miners Foundry. The name of the event is Pixies and Jesters Protagonist Ball, A Pre-Compression Party. The idea behind the name is that you must come dressed as a Pixie, Jester or in your PJ's! If you do not dress up, you can pay $5.00 extra, and have the PJ Staff dress you with whatever they have on hand so Wear Your Costume! The event will fill the entire Miners Foundry, with a DJ Dance Hall in the Stone Hall. JC Musik, Scott Nice, Digital Agent, Rutlok and Stizreth. In the Osborn Woods Hall, live music will reign with Home Free, Earles of Newtown, Organasm Orchestra, The Weeping Angels (youth band who opened for Zepparella at the Foundry), Tiera Iasparo and Devils Train. In the back of the Parking lot, we will have a Youth Stage taking place until 9:15 with Locomotion Circus, BeOnFire Tribe and Earles of Newtown! Many of the live bands you may have heard of, such as Earles of Newtown who opened for the Blind Willies in July at the Miners Foundry. Josh Ford is the creator of this large band who created a very tight sound at their first live performance, and is also a member of Organasm Orchestra. HomeFree Band is a band of guests and associates of Nevada County's Nomadic Homeless Shelter, Hospitality House, in Grass Valley and they will be opening the night on the Osborn/Woods Hall. Four aspiring musicians from Grass Valley formed the Devils Train in early 2009. The Devils Train incorporates rockabilly/psychobilly, punk rock, swing, jazz and psychedelic and will close the night in the live music room.
Performance Art and Vendors will also be a part of this event. Harmonizing Hands Chair Massage, Brutal Honesty Soaps, Fire Starting Kits by Hojji FireMaker and Shazaam Costume Collection will offer supplies and sundries to prepare you for Burning Man or just to spice up your life. One thing is for sure, the Foundry knows how to put on a party! Food, beer and wine will be available for sale during the event. Isabelle's Soul Kitchen Creperie will be selling organic vegetarian savory and sweet crepes & galettes, gluten free and vegan options, teas, and coffee. Tickets are $12.00 in advance & $15.00 at the door and available at Briarpatch or online at BrownPaperTickets.com. They will also be available at the door. Remember to wear your costume, or bring an extra $5.00, and join us on Friday, August 12, 2011, at 6:00 p.m. for an entertaining and fun event.
