Soundings: 'Agile City' Panel Discussion
In a very short time, America has realized that global warming poses real challenges to the nation's future, so, now what? Journalist and urban analyst James S. Russell, author of The Agile City, argues that we'll more quickly slow global warming and blunt its effects by retrofitting cities, suburbs, and towns, whose "agility" also requires learning to adapt to the effects of climate change. Russell is joined in discussion by public-transit consultant Jarrett Walker (Human Transit) and Patti Southard, program manager for King County's GreenTools. Presented as part of the Soundings from Island Press series by Town Hall and Island Press through the Town Hall Center for Civic Life, in association with IslandWood and Elliott Bay Book Company.
