Seattle Theatre: What's Next?
It's time for a little more talk and a lot more action.

"Seattle Theatre: What's Next?" is a moderated community forum that assesses the challenges and opportunities that face the Seattle theatre community and whose explicit goal is to launch cooperative, proactive projects in response.

Community forum
7pm  9pm  West of Lenin
203 N. 36th Street in Fremont

Debrief, planning and networking
9pm  10:30+pm  The George & Dragon Pub
directly across the street from West of Lenin

Format:
This will be a fast-paced, high-energy discussion, with clear goals for results the focus from the beginning.

The community forum will balance brief presentation by speakers and direct feedback from attendees. There are 10-12 spots available for speakers to state what they believe, recount their experiences and insight, report on their and/or their organizations future plans, or explicate on a challenge or opportunity. Each speaker will be given 2-3 minutes to speak followed by 1-2 minutes for questions and audience feedback.

The final half-hour of the forum will focus on creating four lists, arrived at by consensus of the group: what we believe, our challenges, our opportunities, and our next steps. The final list is the most important, and will drive the pub session as people are connected with projects.

The forum will be presided over by two moderators whose job will be to cover ground rules and guide the conversation to the final half-hour's work. A dedicated fact-checker will be on hand, and any participant can call for fact-checking of any speaker at any time. The moderators have the power to "table for the bar" any conversation they deem overly repetitive or argumentative; a list of tabled topics will be kept and also brought to the pub session (because these discussions are important, and fun, and just go better with booze).

The loose coalition of artists organizing this forum will actively solicit specific members of the community to volunteer as speakers, and welcome both suggestions for speakers and direct applications to speak. If you would like to suggest or petition to be a speaker, send an email to Jim Jewell at jamesjewell@comcast.net.

Moderatored by Andy Forrest and Peggy Gannon.

Confirmed speakers so far - Meghan Arnette, Craig Bradshaw, Tyrone Brown, Jena Cane, Jake Groshong, Aaron Moore, Carl Sander, Maridee Slater.

Admission is free but seating at West of Lenin is limited.

HUGE THANKS to AJ Epstein and West of Lenin for hosting the community forum, and John Ravenhill and The George & Dragon Pub for providing a space AND 10% discount for attendees.
