California native, Leroy Powell, plays firey southern rock metal country with his power trio Leroy Powell & the Messengers. Formed in Nashville in 2009 members include Dean Tomasek on bass and Christopher Williams on drums. Five albums under his belt since leaving his guitar playing post with Shooter Jennings. This last release is called Atlantis. This furious onslaught of dangerous rock songs has been met with critical acclaim. The band's unique sound and style reeks of badassness which lends itself to a super incredible live show.The new record is Atlantis recorded by Leroy Powell and the Messengers.

.. Leroy has shared the stage with Willie Nelson, Hank Williams Jr, David Allan Coe, Kris Kristofferson, Dickey Betts, Jessi Colter, Billy Joe Shaver, Charlie Pride, Marshall Tucker Band, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

He started singing and playing guitar at the age of ten and would later learn to play bass,drums, harmonica, fiddle, and pedal steel. He moved to Los Angeles in 1998 and started singing and playing with Funk, R&B, blues, and rock bandsincluding members of Spearhead, Fishbone, Gene Loves Jezebel, Blink 182, and Ike Turner. In 2001 Leroy started to focus on a more countrified sound and began to experiment with adding all of his other musical influences blending classic country with psychedelic rock and blues interpretations, leading Guitar Player Magazine to say "half his riffs smell like beer and honky-tonks, while the other half sound like redneck cousins of Led Zeppelin."
