Chuckanut Radio hour with Clete Smith
The Chuckanut Radio Hour is a radio variety show that began in January 2007 and is regularly broadcast on KMRE LP 102.3 FM & KVOS TV. Each Chuckanut Radio Hour features a guest author and includes guest musicians, performance poet Kevin Murphy, Cascadia Weekly columnist Alan Rhodes, an episode of "The Bellingham Bean" serial radio comedy, and some groaner jokes by hosts Chuck & Dee Robinson and announcer Rich Donelly.
You may listen to the programs on KMRE-LP 102.3 FM in rotation each Saturday evening at 6pm and each Sunday evening at 9pm. You may listen to KMRE online at the times the show plays or...anytime. The KVOS TV recording plays in the month following the live production. The Chuckanut Radio Hour's first guest was Erik Larson and has since included William Dietrich, Elizabeth George, J.A. Jance, Sherman Alexie, Tom Robbins and Garrison Keillor, among many others.
Our July guest will be local author and teacher Clete Smith, who is fresh from his national tour following the terrific launch of his book, Aliens on Vacation, at Village Books in early May. In the book (set in a fictional town right in our back yard) David "Scrub" Elliot is sent to stay with his grandmother for the summer. Her "Intergalactic Bed & Breakfast" turns out to be just thatthe only place for vacationing aliens to stay on earth.
There's a close connection between the book and our evening's musical guestsScrub and Megan Hubner. Yes, that's right, "Scrub." Come and find out the connection.
Tickets are $5. Doors open at 6:30pm, and you must be seated by 6:45pm as the show and taping begins promptly at 7pm. co-sponsored by the Leopold Residence.
