Will Franken's "Keep Your Dragon Low"
Will Franken returns to the theatre (as opposed to the comedy clubs) for his second theatrical performance (i.e., crazy sound cues, lighting cues, unexpected entrances and exits, props, etc.) since 2007's highly-successful "Grandpa, It's Not Fitting!"
Think comedy show meets Pink Floyd. . .
If you haven't seen what Will Franken can do in a theatre with 90 minutes to himself and a qualified sound/light technician, this is only one of two chances to see him do so.
Saturday, the 30th of July, Will Franken presents "Keep Your Dragon Low" -- the title taken from a Will Franken original song about keeping your anger/doubt/frustration/suicide attempts (i.e., your "dragon") low (i.e. be happy!)
Items on the menu this evening include the hysterically politically-incorrect, "Polite Muslim Suicide Bomber Who Gets Upset When Plane Crashes On Its Own" -- the comedic, yet terrifying, demonstration of Will's enviable prowess at comedic timing, sound design, physical humor, and political satire. For one-night only, experience the sounds of the cockpit, the stewardess, 5-year old pilot Griffin (there as part of the No Pilots Left Behind program) and, of course, Will's slow and deliberate costume change into a ski-mask and strap-on bomb. . .not for the fainthearted!
There'll also be some historical comedy -- Catherine the Great's minister for foreign affairs is both pleased and shocked to entertain her request for a large horse to be lowered on top of her. Unfortunate for him, the only one he can find on such short notice is a My Pretty Pony tied to a jump rope. There's also the conversation between a pretentious Marin artist and an NPR-spouting radio over her self-portrait of herself as a dog with a stop sign for a head. And much, much more.
This is also the beginning of a goodbye. The second of two shows where he bids farewell to comedy. . .

Question: |
Will this show sell out? Are tickets still 20 dollars at the door? How far in advance should we get there to get a good seat? |
Answer: |
Hey there; Saturday's show still has some seats available; it's a smaller venue than the Onion where I usually play, so it might be a good idea to get them in advance. Doors will open a half-hour before, so if you're planning on getting tics then, you might want to arrive around 7:15 or 7:20 |
