Alley Repertory Theater, a professional theater housed in the heart of Garden City, Idaho, is committed to producing excellent theater by bringing together local talent and thinking audiences. Alley Rep has in the past focused on both new and contemporary works that create dialogue and encourage community. The Plays from the Alley series is one element of that initiative to stir, engage and connect artists with audiences in a direct and gripping fashion.
This year's Plays from the Alley will take place at the Visual Arts Collective in Garden City and will feature the following plays:
JULY 14- "THE LATITUDE OF LIFE" By Jason Haskins Leveled with the news that their father has very little time left to live, three sisters forge ahead with planning for life after their father's death. Upon discovering that their father owns a now missing, rare four-million dollar coin, the sisters begin a journey that delves into their family's past and quite possibly their future.
JULY 21- "SOBORNOST" By Philip Atlakson An American professor turns a village in rural Russia upside down when he tries to marry a beautiful widowed mother living there. A Chekhovian ensemble of characters suddenly find themselves caught between forces east and west, urban and rural, poverty and privilege, masculine and feminine, all while seeking "sobornost", the mystical Russian quest for universal harmony.
JULY 28- "T.B.H. (To be Honest)" By Evan Sesek Single father Paul was raising a beautiful, sweet little girl--until she turned fourteen and all hell broke loose. When she starts dating a troubled high school senior, Paul recruits his personal assistant to tutor his daughter--and in the process, spy on her. A play about childhood, adulthood, and everything in between.
