de Porres West Adams
Dear Friends,
Pablo and I invite you to join us Sunday, July 26th at 6:30 pm in Historic West Adams. We'll begin in my Bluegrass State with fried green tomatoes, country ham, and Bourbon Sours. Yellowtail tiradito follows. Tiradito, a Japanese Peruvian preparation of raw fish (not unlike sashimi), will be garnished with plums and the Andean grain, kiwicha. Next is roasted eggplant with romano beans, yogurt, mint, and scallions. For our main, Pablo will braise duck legs in wine, kumquats, and botija olives. The duck will be served alongside pepián de choclo. Pre-Colombian and from the North of Peru, this dish is made primarily of corn and seasoned with aji amarillo and garlic. Ours will come with roasted jalapeños, as well. For dessert: peach cobbler and homemade mascarpone ice cream. For the gluten free amongst us, cobbler can be substituted with fresh peaches and salted manjarblanco, Peruvian caramel.
As for our stage, artist Joan Tucker and travel photographer Paul Papanek have opened the doors of their Spanish Revival Home. Built in the 1920s and expertly preserved, we'll all get a glimpse into Los Angeles' past. Too, Joan invites you to have a peek inside her on-site studio.
Lastly, since moving here we've been asked to make a gluten free menu and this is itso long as you pass on the cobbler. Just let us know ahead of time. Please note no other substitutions will be made. The suggested donation is $100 with wine pairings or $85 BYOB. RSVP to info@de-porres.com. Space is limited.
Nos vemos. Danielle and Pablo
