The Kalahari Experience: Voices of South Africa with members of Zulu Spear
Conceived & Directed by Gideon Bendile (cofounder Zulu Spear) The group is completely composed of members of legendary award-winning and pioneering world music recording artists Zulu Spear (Majara Mojela, Moeketsi Gibe, Ron Van Leeuwaarde, Morgan Nhlapo and cofounder Gideon Bendile).
The Kalahari Experience is made up of exceptional vocalists, acoustic musicians & dancers who bring the vibrant & infectious music of South Africa to life!
More about Zulu Spear: Co-founded by Gideon Bendile, Zulu Spear toured extensively, recorded an album on Capitol Records, performed for Nelson Mandela in person alongside The Grateful Dead, John Lee Hooker, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Bonnie Raitt, Sarafina and Joan Baez and won the coveted Bay Area Music Award for Best Blues/Ethnic Act in 1987.
The event raises funds for The San Geronimo Valley Community Center food bank, youth center, senior lunch and other programs. This venue is 15 minutes west of San Rafael in beautiful San Geronimo in Marin. Parking is plentiful.
