American Buffalo
In a cluttered, run-down Chicago junk shop, three small-time crooks, Donny, Bobby and Teach, plot to steal a valuable buffalo nickel. As the heist unravels, the men's frustration and paranoia intensify. With its gritty characters and sharp comic language, American Buffalo officially put Mamet on the map when it first premiered in 1975.
American Buffalo was named "Best American Play" by the New York Drama Critics Circle in 1976-77. Now a modern classic, American Buffalo is the story of three men struggling in the pursuit of their distorted vision of the American Dream. By turns touching and cynical, poignant and violent, American Buffalo is a piercing story of how people can be corrupted into betraying their ideals and those they love. .
ATSF's production is directed by founding member Keith Phillips and featuring ensemble members Christian Phillips, Randy Hurst, Joe Napoli and Vlad Sayenko. Set design by James Baldock and Jenna Welch, Light Design by Rachel Klyce with technical direction provided by James Baldock.
