Gift of Gab w/ Agent 23 & Adam Strange, and PyInfamous @ Mellow Mushroom
Geniass Productions is proud to present the long awaited return of legendary underground emcee, Gift of Gab, to Asheville, NC. Gab will be performing live at the Mellow Mushroom in downtown Asheville on Thursday July 28th, doors are at 10PM and the music begins at 11PM. Support is rounded out by Asheville's own Secret Agent 23 and Adam Strange, both of famed local Hip Hop Jamband Granola Funk Express. Crystal Springs, MS emcee PyInfamous, a socially conscious rapper reppin' the South, who just beat out thousands in the "Coors Light Search For The Coldest MC" Competition and was crowned "Coldest MC," will also be performing a set.
Gift of Gab made his name as one of the two emcees in the popular West coast underground hip hop group Blackalicious, who's members came together in highschool in the late 80's. Pitchfork Media refers to Gab's "astonishing verbal dexterity and enunciation," Popmatters says he has a "nearly impenetrable reputation for style and innovation," Allmusic says he is "one of the very finest MCs to ever pick up a microphone" and Stylus Magazine calls him "one of the top MCs in the game." With almost two decades experience as an emcee, this veteran performer has traveled the world playing for hip hop fans of every age, religion, creed and color, and truly has a live act that is unparalleled in hip hop. Gab is also a gifted freestyler and regularly astonishes crowds with his verbal dexterity and vocabulary.
Agent 23 and Adam Strange are best known to Ashevillains as two of the founding members of legendary local Hip Hop Jamband, Granola Funk Express. Recently, Agent 23 has been performing his brand of "Kid Hop" to new and eager audiences all over the United States and Adam Strange is building a name in Asheville as an incredibly talented visual Artist. PyInfamous, from Crystal Springs, MS, recently beat out thousands of other Artists in the "Coors Light Search For The Coldest MC" Competition, as judged by hip-hop aficionado DJ Khaled and Grammy award winning songwriter/producer Bryan Michael Cox, was crowned "Coldest MC" and will be opening for hip hop superstars N.E.R.D. at this years Essence Music Festival in New Orleans.
