"Cut N' Run", The Gilded Splinter's sophomore release is the sound of a band who has found their voice. The follow up to their 2007 release "January" finds the band seasoned with a clear focus of their sound. "When we started the band in 06, we were just trying to play together" Buckley says," I was living with our piano player John Carbone. We liked the same music for the most part and just started playing together." That fall, drummer Russ Patterson joined the band and the foundation of the Gilded Splinters was laid. In January of 07, the Gilded Splinters met up with producer/guitarist JP Bowersock, (Ryan Adams/the Strokes) and recorded their debut full length. "Making January was much different then recording Cut N' Run.." recalls Carbone, "this time we had a better idea of what we wanted the record to sound like.." Over the next two years the Splinters toured the east coast, honed their road ready sound and added Chuck Vath on bass and Jonas Kahn on lead guitar.
" Just back from a conference in Boston; took time out to see Gilded Splinters at Toad. I was knocked out. They totally killed! IMO, at this time, they may be the band to look to for true alt (and non-alt) country (pick your fave term) in the Boston area. They often succeed in merging Merle Haggard and The Who, with forays into almost pyschedelic country. If they are willing, they will be at Gram InterNational IV Boston. " No Depression
