REVOLVE::pt.3::PERFECTION
Imagenese Free welcomes resident artist Josh Wilder, as one of the Co-Op's Philadelphia based artists. He brings his one man show, PERFECTION, making its West Coast debut at the Hayworth Theatre, July 1st. The show has had successful workshops in Pittsburgh at Carnegie Mellon University's School of Drama.
This Solo show incorporates Mask Work, Poetry, and Multi-Media Art to create the haunting experience of Harlem's abandoned, yet politically charged atmosphere.
IMAGENESE ACTORS are opening the show with a Def Jam Style POETRY SLAM, breathing life into poems written just for this event, as well contemporary house shakers, with a few classics from the Harlem Renaissance.
"PERFECTION demonstrates how the inner city incubates the great visionaries of our time."
In the midst of Harlem's gentrification, Perfection, a revolutionary college student, throws a brick into a new 14 million dollar condominium development that stands besides the project building he grew up in. PERFECTION tells the story of a young man trying to save the Harlem he once knew before it is all buried.
PERFECTION explores the current problem of gentrification as a type of socio-economic cleansing in Harlem.
