The Place - A One-Act-Play by Juanita Torrence-Thompson
American Book award winning poet, Daniela Giosefi will read the prologue Saturday, August 22 @ 12 noon. Juanita Torrence-Thompson will perform prologue Sunday, August 23 at 1 PM. This will be followed by her play, The Place, directed by veteran actor/director, Arthur French.

"The Place" is a theatrical romp through an unusual day in the life of Emily and cohorts which will keep you guessing if what you see and hear is really happening and if so, why, where and what does it all mean? Playwright Torrence-Thompson hints at loneliness, isolation and societal miscommunication in serio-comic style.

Juanita Torrence-Thompson (Playwright, Producer) poetry events producer/host, Brevitas poet, former actress and former Editor-in-Chief/Publisher of award-winning MOBIUS The Poetry Magazine. Pushcart nominated & Small Press Review "pick". Awards for poetry, short fiction, feature articles. Poetry published internationally and translated into 15 languages. Authored 8 poetry books, including New York & African Tapestries, Talking With Stanley Kunitz and The Secret Life of Scrambled Eggs. Books #9 & #10 are forthcoming. The Place is her 2nd play. She wrote, directed and starred in her first play produced at age 10, entitled, The Beginning of the New Year. It was displayed at Mechanics Hall, Boston, MA during Black History Month. She is a former Adjunct Professor at The College of New Rochelle and holds an M.A. from Fordham University. Daniela Gioseffi is an American Book Award-winning author of 16 books of poetry and prose. She is subject of the documentary film Author and Activist set to preview this fall, Sept.30th at 7PM at Anthology Film Archives 2nd Ave and E.2nd St. Her anthology of world literature, On Prejudice; A Global Perspective (Anchor/Doubleday, NY, 1993) received a World Peace Award at The UN from The Ploughshares Foundation. Women on War, International Voices (Touchstone/Simon & Schuster:NY) has been in print for over 25 years as a women's studies classic, re-issued by the Feminist Press, N.Y. 2003. She won The John Ciardi Award for Lifetime Achievement in Poetry, 2007, after having won two grant awards in poetry from the NY State Council for the Arts and publishing six volumes of poetry, the first Eggs in the Lake (BOA Editions, 1979) and the last Blood Autumn, (VIA Folios/Bordighera Press CUNY, 2007.) She edits www.Eco-Poetry.org/ combining literary art with climate crisis news and action alerts. Her verse, along with Walt Whitman's was etched in marble on a Wall of PENN Station, NY, in 2002. Daniela was an Equity actress, and had plays produced Off-off B'way.

Arthur French (director) has directed plays for New Federal Theatre, The Weston Playhouse in Vermont, The Hadley Players, and the Morningside Players productions of Fences, and A Raisin In The Sun among others. He is also a veteran actor of Broadway, off-Broadway, films, TV and commercials.
