Famed NY Guitarist Howard Alden returns to the Bay Area in August and will perform again at St. Alban's Church in Albany with members of two Bay Area Brazilian Choro groups, Berkeley Choro Ensemble and Grupo Falso Baiano, featuring: Jane Lenoir, flute, Harvey Wainapel, clarinet, Brian Moran, guitar, and Ami Molinelli Hart, pandeiro and percussion.
Howard Alden's passion for Brazilian music and choro will be on display in this show when he joins forces with members of the Bay Area's two world-class Brazilian choro groups, Berkeley Choro Ensemble and Grupo Falso Baiano. The program will also include some jazz standards, bossa nova, samba and more.

Brazilian Choro is a synthesis of European classical music popular in Brazil in the 19th Century and Afro Brazilian rhythm. Today, Brazilian Choro music is experiencing a new wave of popularity, with Paquito D'Rivera, Anat Cohen, Howard Alden. Yo Yo Ma and other well-known jazz and classical musicians celebrating Brazilian music as part of the repertoire. Howard's performance in January 2015 was sold out, so please purchase your tickets in advance, and invite friends. Howard will be in town for four days in August, so don't miss this show!
