IS CHINA'S EMERGENCE AS A GREAT POWER A SURPRISE? -- John McKinstry
Most Americans know more about the cultural history of Europe and The Middle East than they do about the equally great, and often earlier, cultural achievements of China. This course will explore examples illustrating how China's accomplishments in literature and the arts, government, technology, economic developments and military theory compare to the similar accomplishments of other parts of the world. This course will study China's achievements over the last 2000 years.
JOHN McKINSTRY. Ph.D, will teach this course. Dr. McKinstry, a Cal Poly Professor of Sociology and Asian Studies from 1968-2014, received three teaching Fullbright Awards. He has also been on the staff of Universities in Tokyo,Fukuoaka. Harbin and Sofis, Bulgaria. Dr. McKinstry is the author and co-author of several books about Asian societies.
Registering for this course by buying a ticket will admit you to both sessions of this course.
