Dancing at Lughnasa
Thought to be Brian Friel's masterpiece, this brilliant, Tony Award-winning play is the story of five sisters, one with a seven-year-old son, living in a small village in Ireland in 1936. It is the time of the Festival of Lughnasa, which celebrates the harvest with music and dancing. The play is Friel's tribute to the spirit and valor of Ireland's past and its people. "This play does exactly what theater is meant to do, carrying both its characters and audience aloft on those waves of distant music that, in defiance of logic, let us dance and dream just before night must fall," New York Times.
