APPLAUSE! Musicals In Concert, Canada's only musical theatre company dedicated to the presentation of rare and forgotten musicals, presents The Boys From Syracuse, Rodgers and Hart's forgotten musical adaptation of Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors. This zany 1938 musical comes to life Saturday, August 22th at the Orpheum Annex (823 Seymour St).

The Boys From Syracuse, follows the story of identical twin brothers Antipholus of Ephesus and Antipholus of Syracuse, who were separated as young children, and who each have a servant named Dromio (also a pair of identical twins, long-separated). Issues of mistaken identity and confusion arise when the two from Syracuse arrive in Ephesus and accidentally fall in love with the wives of their brothers. The Boys From Syracuse, originally produced in 1938, is based on Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors, as adapted by librettist George Abbott, and features the incredible songs by Rodgers and Hart, "Falling in Love With Love," "This Can't Be Love" and "Sing For Your Supper." The Comedy of Errors is currently running as part of Bard on the Beach's 2015 season.

American songwriting duo, Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart, collaborated on 28 stage productions from 1919 to 1943. Over the course of their partnership, Rodgers and Hart wrote many successful shows including On Your Toes, Pal Joey, and Babes in Arms. They also produced over 500 songs, many of which have become standards, including "Blue Moon" and "The Lady is a Tramp". Their partnership ended with Hart's death, and Rodgers continued on to work with Oscar Hammerstein, which became one of the most famous partnerships in musical theatre history.
