"An Evening with Necole and Ed Reinhart"
Vocalist Necole Suttles will join pianist Ed Reinhart in a rare performance of four shows of country, blues, gospel, and jazz classics at Willits Community Theatre starting July 31. "An Evening with Necole and Ed Reinhart" will include Les Tarr on bass and Bruce Hutton on drums. This quintet of long-time local talent will perform a variety of Patsy Cline classics, old blues numbers including Eric Clapton favorites, a capella gospel tunes and several jazz standards. The four shows will be on Friday, July 31 at 7pm, Sunday, August 2 at 2pm, Friday, August 7 at 7pm and Sunday, August 9 at 2pm.
A vocalist extraordinaire in Mendocino County for nearly three decades, Suttles brings an amazing quality to her performances, be it putting her voice to hard blues, Black gospel or country and rockabilly. She credits the musical tastes of her parents for her influences, including the Beatles, Rollings Stone, Bach, Mozart, Janis Joplin, Judy Collins, Traffic and Buffalo Springfield, among others.Suttles says, "I'm so excited to have my 'Dream Trio' behind me and I'm doing this concert because I very much enjoy how the music makes people feel and how my voice lifts others up." Suttles is backed by her husband Tim Suttles who has performed with her since 1989.  He was also an original member of the Rockabilly Blues Band.
Reinhart is one of the best known musicians in Mendocino County and has been playing his own brand of boogie woogie blues piano for the past 40 years. He has appeared on stage with Commander Cody, Burl Ives and Bonnie Raitt and has recorded with Michael Osborne and the legendary blues icon John Lee Hooker. In 1993, Reinhart appeared with Spencer Brewer in "Dueling Pianos" at WCT, an old west barroom farce. In 1999, he was the musical director and show pianist in WCT's "Blues in the Night."
Les Tarr has been a professional musician since 1966. He has played bass with such blues and jazz luminaries as Luther Tucker, JJ Malone, Paula Samonte, J.C. Burris, Tommy Tutone, Paul McCandless and L.C. "Lucky Rockin'" Robinson. Tarr has also worked as a radio announcer and disc jockey for the past 25 years at KLLK-Willits, KMFB-Fort Bragg, KTDE-Gualala, and the on-line station KSAV-San Ramon.
Bruce Hutton started playing sax when he was in the 5th grade and then later on took up the drums at the age of 37. A resident of Willits since 1977, Hutton has played with numerous local country bands. Notably, he was a member of the wildly popular Rockabilly Blues Band that played to packed houses at JP's Club in Willits in 1995.
