Tap and Tastings!
Chicago Tap Theatre is proud to present their annual benefit, but this is unlike anything CTT has created in their past! "From the first benefit we did over seven years ago, I have dreamed of creating a Benefit for Chicago Tap Theatre that would reflect our dedication to locally-owned businesses and my personal passion for artisanal food and drinks, and this seems like the perfect year to make that happen!" said Mark Yonally, Artistic Director and Founder of CTT.
From its inception, CTT has had a heavy focus on supporting locally-owned establishments, which extends from where the Board of Directors hold their meetings (locally owned restaurants), to where the dancers eat when on tour (again, mom and pop establishments), to where they source all props, lights, set pieces, technicians, designers, production companies (all in Chicago!). They are bringing this love of the local to their Benefit, Tap and Tastings! "The great thing about local food and drinks is that not only do they carry a smaller carbon footprint, they almost always taste better and fresher. We are especially lucky because Chicago is home to some of the finest artisanal companies in the country!" noted Yonally.
The food is still being kept under wraps, but CTT is proud to announce the drink purveyors who will be offering samples of their products throughout the evening, including Koval Distillery, Metropolitan Brewery, and Chava Cafe.
But it's not just food and drinks that will be local, as local singers, poets, musicians, and other performers will be giving "bite-sized" portions of performances all evening. The only longer performance will be a couple Chicago Tap Theatre favorites selected especially for the evening.
