The Madogs of Diego relates a moment in the history of the inhabitants of the island of Diego Garcia in the middle of the Indian Ocean just before their deportation to Mauritius. Diego Garcia was part of the territory of the island of Mauritius.The colonial government(the British) took Diego Garcia from Mauritius in exchange for its independence.The inhabitants of Diego Garcia,known as the Chagossians were driven out of their birthplace and deported to Mauritius.
