The 2 Sides of Eddie Ramone
In its only U.S. Performances prior to its debut at The Edinburgh Festival this summer Chris Sullivan's compelling new play examines the tragicomic and complicated personality of an established comedian as he strives to overcome personal tragedy and scandal.
Always fascinated by the life of comedians and the vast difference between their on and off stage personae, Sullivan has seen many a comedian sitting in the corners of bars talking to nobody. The 2 Sides of Eddie Ramone explores this dichotomy.
Written and Performed by award winning Irish actor/writer/director Chris Sullivan. Sullivan trained in both classical and modern theatre at The Birmingham School of Speech Training & Dramatic Art and appeared in many leading roles in the British repertory system in plays by William Shakespeare, Ben Jonson, John Arden, Alan Ayckbourn, Neil Simon and others before creating the role, to terrific national reviews, of 'David' in Glenn Chandler's controversial play 'A TREAT' at London's Soho Poly Theatre, the West End's number one fringe venue.
Sullivan trod the stage at Santa Monica Playhouse in the World Premiere of Brenda Krantz's "Lovely!" with Louise Sorrell, as well as with his one man Irish show A Bit of Irish which premiered at Santa Monica Playhouse and played for ten years on and off at the Playhouse as well as the Edinburgh Festival, the Jermyn Street Theatre in London's West End, and various Irish Fairs and colleges in the USA and provincial theatres in the U.K.
As a writer, he has penned two Irish novels, one set in Los Angeles and the latest in Dublin, Donegal and Sligo, Ireland. He also writes the blog The Storyteller which is read all over the world and which he describes as the ramblings of a Hollywood actor and novice novelist.
The world premiere of his play The 2 Sides of Eddie Ramone sees this versatile performer bring yet another facet of his theatrical creativity to Santa Monica Playhouse in what may be his swan song in Los Angeles as Sullivan moves back to the UK this summer.
