Joe Troop/Diego Sanchez

Joe Troop and Diego Sánchez are an acoustic world-music duo based in Argentina. Since 2010, they have been creating and performing original music for the 5-string banjo, fiddle, double bass and voice in the multicultural Buenos Aires underground. Their genre-bending compositions reflect the urban melting pot they have emerged from.

Both are not only steeped in the distinct musical traditions of their respective homelands, but have also absorbed other genres, and, in turn, curated unique forms of interpreting and composing in such styles. As a duo they place no restrictions on their sound; what results in their collaboration is an innovative, dynamic contribution to new acoustic music.

From bluegrass to tango, classical to jazz, flamenco to chamamé, pop to R&B, Joe and Diego explore diverse horizons with bold lyrics, soulful singing and instrumental virtuosity. Their 2014 release "Cheap Sacred Texts and Microwaves" is a testament to their journey thus far.
