Hump Day Homecoming!

Chemically Imbalanced Comedy is proud to present "Hump Day Homecoming". Per CIC's mission we support area artists by providing stage time to emerging comic voices while maintaining an affordable and fun environment for our community to enjoy. Wednesday nights will now feature OUR Improv ensembles! CIC, starting our 12th season in Sept, is home to more than 25 company members and 6 Improv ensembles that make up who we are. Each month we will feature one of our sponsored Improv Ensembles in a headlining spot on Wednesday nights. They will be joined by new guest artists each week. We are excited to feature "Under the Bleachers" June 15-June 29 and "Counter Productive Lover" July 20 and July 27. Under the Bleachers is a newer sponsored troupe but it is made up of CIC company members that have performed on our stage since our inception. Counter Productive Lover is CIC's most seasoned ensemble having been a sponsored troupe since 2007.

Directed by CIC's Artistic Director Farrell Walsh, Under the Bleachers is seven veteran improvisers from theaters across Chicago. Using their diverse training and backgrounds, the group creates a world of characters and then chases them as they end up in ridiculous scenarios. They approach their improvised pieces with intellect and childish exuberance, much like finding a fart joke in a book of Plato.

Directed byJorin Garguilo, Counter-Productive Lover takes show structure to the next level; while they adhere to a strict form, called theJourney, the rules of the form are completely improvised! Through strong choices and show moves, the audience is able to watch as CPL establishes a new approach to each show. Past shows have included an exploration of each branch of a family tree, improvisedMark Twain, and a full-length Sci-Fi Romance Murder Mystery. Each show is baked from scratch and tastes like it was made with Love.
