Oriental Fairy Tales: Wild Zebra
This is a performance of the score from the fantasy dance-drama Wild Zebra, showcasing the accomplishments of a troupe of young Chinese performers (8-12 y.o.). It was created by Zhang Jigang, deputy director and choreographer of the Opening and Closing ceremonies for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. To gain immortality, the Black Bear queen needs a cloak made from zebra hides. To enable her beloved Wild Zebra to escape, Zebra Girl sacrifices her life. As the drama builds to a crescendo, the wild beasts howl in accompaniment.
