In remembrance of Vic Skolnick, co-founder of the Cinema Arts Centre, the cinema will be showing his favorite film. Cherry Blossoms is about an elderly married couple who live in a small Bavarian town. Trudi has always been interested in the arts, especially Japanese Butoh dancing, but has devoted her life to caring for her family. Her husband, Rudi, is a civil servant. When Rudi is diagnosed with a serious illness, Trudi decides that they will take a trip to the Baltic Sea. This begins a journey that will change their lives. Doris Dorrie is a spiritually sensitive German film director who has made a remarkable and touching film about impermanence, death, grief, and the healing power of creativity. She states "One has to give love a chance to reveal itself in its greatest pain and strength. That's why the Japanese sit under the cherry blossoms because they are tremendously beautiful when they bloom. At the same time, this period of blossoming is short livedone has to catch the moment when it happens." Cherry Blossoms is the way Vic would have wanted to be remembered.
