IT'S ALL RELATIVE: FAMILY STORIES guest curator Bridgitte Thum
From inlaws to outlaws and back again, the stories of the people who are always there to be taken for granted, like the free spot on your bingo board. People who share your DNA and your breakfast cereal. Family friends and kissing cousins, faux fathers, dutch uncles and free babysitters. The grands and greats, steps and halfs and once removeds, always there to remind you of your appointments and disappointments. Storytellers: Tucson City Councilwoman, Regina Romero; children's book maven, Steve Barancik; guerilla artist, Jokeharmonica (aka Christopher Donahue; cook, Eddie Yourgules; arts education advocate, Sarah K. Smith and pastor, Stephen Springer.
Have dinner at the Cup Cafe (reservations recommended: 798-1618) in the historic Hotel Congress OR at the new Maynard's Market and Kitchen on Toole Ave in the Historic Train Depot (reservations recommended: 545-0577).
Doors open at 6:30, come early to get a good seat. Parking is free on the street after 5 p.m.
Storytelling is a way to make connections with diverse and different people that you may not meet in your everyday life. Because people are telling stories from their lives they may be amazing, messy, enlightening, disturbing, profound and entertaining. Our storytellers have guidelines but they are uncensored.
