Fishing Trip with Los Angeles Top Chefs The Monte Carlo Boat San Pedro, CA
For the most up to date information about this trip please visit our website LadlesandJellyspoons.com.
We are proud to announce that we are going fishing with a who's who of Los Angeles chefs on June 5th and if you are lucky enough to hook one of our VIP tickets ($100) you can come too. The boat departs at 6.30am - so best to meet at the dock at 6.00am - don't want to miss the boat.
Since this is a fundraiser any donations you would like to make on top of the ticket price will be gratefully received. Michael Cimarusti has been to Japan twice in the last couple of years and is going to show us the Japanese technique of IKE JIME - the spinal cord and main blood vessels are severed at the head and tail, a long needle is pushed down the spinal cord, and the fish is placed in ice water to bleed out...
Chefs coming on this trip are yet to be finalized but here's who's fished with us before - Michael Cimarusti and Donato Poto (Providence), Josiah Citrin (Melisse), Neal Fraser (Grace), Brian Moyers (BLT), Stephen Fretz (XIV) Alain Giraud (Maison Giraud), Andrea Cavaliere (Cecconi's), Chef Ben Ford (Ford's Filling Station), Dave Dahni (Grilled Cheese Truck), Waylann Lucas (Pastry Chef from Patina), Craig Min (LA Mill), Adam, Doug and Edwin from The Bazaar and our very own mixologist for the boat Matthew Biancaniello (Roosevelt Hotel). Lots of chefs who have been invited but are yet to confirm and we will update the list as we get confirmations.
They get to come if they bring along some delicious tasty treats for us all to share for breakfast. Truffle sliders, gourmet grilled mac n cheese sandwiches, the best chocolate chip cookies from Providence, LA Mill iced coffee and Dark and Stormy cocktails were highlights of previous trips - this year we are hoping for some great breakfast snacks, perhaps some eggs over easy on the griddle, a fresh peach bellini and maybe even something Nitro or out of a Pacojet?
When fishing or eating or drinking the chefs will multi task and share recipe ideas for the catch and there will be a prize for the biggest fish caught.
If you would like the opportunity to fish with this esteemed bunch you'll have to act fast we are only offering a limited number of VIP tickets ($100), on a first come, first served basis.
Note: VIP Tickets for the general public are available for $100.00 per person on a first-come, first-sold basis via Brown Paper Tickets. You bring: A rod (available to hire on the boat) and a fishing license(go to http://www.dfg.ca.gov/licensing/ols/ and purchase a one day fishing license $14), sunscreen, and a smile! As well as the treats the Chefs are bringing aboard there are drinks (including beer) and food sold on the boat. All ticket sales are non-refundable. *Final chef list to be confirmed. No bananas allowed on board - Chef Cimarusti says it's bad luck.
