Diggity Dog Days
Diggity Dog Days a puppet show for adults about an irrepressible dog and his aging owner created and performed solo by Margo McCreary with live music and original songs composed by Marya Hart and drums and percussion by Jeremy Anderson directed by Zaraawar Mistry
It's a dog's life. Jack the Dog is here to w.a.l.k. you through the ins and outs of being a dog. Come to Dreamland Arts. Sit. Stay.
When changes in his aging owner's life begin to affect his everyday routine, Jack the dog responds doggedly, causing confusion and distress for all. An unexpected adventure to the dog park threatens to only make matters worse, but a brood of neighborly urban chickens intervenes to save the day! Set to a jazzy score with lively songs, Diggity Dog Days is a good frolic on heartache and hope. Recommended for adults.
Margo McCreary began her puppet career with "In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre" in 1976. She creates original works for puppetry and teaches puppetry and mask making to students across Minnesota as an artist/educator. This year she is a recipient of an Artist Initiative Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board.
Zaraawar Mistry is a writer, actor, director, storyteller and the creator of several original theatrical works. He and his wife, Leslye Orr, own and operate Dreamland Arts, a 40-seat theater attached to their house through an underground passage.
Marya Hart is a composer and pianist. Composing credits include works with Frank Theatre, Bedlam Theatre and History Theatre. Marya is also a teaching artist at Children's Theatre Company and a staff musician for the U of M Dance Department.
Jeremy Anderson has made music with a wide range of groups differing greatly in style, size, and performance practice. His drumming can be heard on several albums, including Bluestone Moon's Tomorrow's Trying to Breathe and his own newest release, Bend. Jeremy is a staff musician in the Dance Department at the University of Minnesota.
