Critically acclaimed new-work production company PianoFight is thrilled to announce The Endless Weekend Tour with stops in Oakland, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles and San Diego, featuring all-new material from Mission Control (writers of "The S.H.I.T. Show"), Monday Night ForePlays and some PianoFight favorites from the nation's largest audience-judged playwriting competition, ShortLived. The Endless Weekend Tour kicks off with a blowout show at Luka's in Downtown Oakland, on Tuesday, May 24th; rolls into the Center Stage Theater in Santa Barbara on Thursday, May 26th; camps out for two nights at Theater Asylum in Los Angeles on Friday and Saturday, May 27th-28th; and wraps up with a final performance at the Ion Theater in San Diego on Sunday, May 29th. In the process of building out a state-of-the-art theater complex with a restaurant and bar in downtown San Francisco, PianoFight is also strengthening the connection between its Los Angeles and San Francisco operations. The Endless Weekend Tour marks the first opportunity for both the SF and LA branches of the company to go on the road and perform together and the first multi-city tour for PianoFight with stops down the California coast.
Featuring short plays from San Francisco writers William Bivins and Daniel Heath and Los Angeles writers Cort Brinkerhoff and Jason Matthews, all of whom competed in ShortLived, The Endless Weekend Tour also includes all new material from PianoFight's sketch comedy groups Monday Night ForePlays and Mission Control. Sketches range from a 17th century humorist's poem about restoring hymens ("maiden-heads") retold through a modern-day original musical, to invaluable scientific revelations surrounding how inter-dolphin communication may or may not affect our children's future(s) and a groundbreaking form of entertainment, PianoFight: Live-D. The Endless Weekend Tour also showcases local musicians from each of the cities as well as PianoFight's post-minimalist-avant-surf-rock act, Das Haus Band.
PianoFight company members Alex Boyd, Eric Delgado, Rachel Ferensowicz, Jed Goldstein, Nicole Hammersla, Nina Harada, Ray Hobbs, Jeremy Mascia, Devin McNulty, Liz Osborn, Gabrielle Patacsil, Rob Ready, Emma Shelton, Andy Strong, Dan Williams, Evan Winchester, and Duncan Wold make up the cast. Directors include Ready and McNulty from SF as well as Reena Dutt and Jen Weaver in LA. Technical design and management is handled by DL Soares.
PIANOFIGHT LLC is an SF-based production and venue management company founded by Rob Ready and Dan Williams in the summer of 2007. Former managing partners of the Off-Market Theaters until its close in 2011, PianoFight has designed the plans for and intends to build a state of the art theater complex with a restaurant and bar in downtown San Francisco. In four years, PianoFight has produced over 200 original short and full-length plays, created the largest audience-judged playwriting competition in the country, tackled a choose-your-own-adventure play series, recklessly invited audiences to Throw Rotten Veggies at the Actors Night, and garnered international critical acclaim all while staying true to its goal of producing New Work by New Artists.
