JIM PAGE 40TH ANNIVERSARY IN SEATTLE CONCERT!
Sunday June 12 7PM Doors--Show 7:30 Seattle Public Theater at the Greenlake Bathhouse
Seattle Jim Page hitched into town on June 12, 1971 and proceeded to turn the lights back on the waning folk scene. The last folk club had closed its doors a few months prior. But Jim was undeterred by silly details like no venue, no stage, no sound gear, no posters and no audience. He took to the streets and played impromptu sets at the UW's Red Square and gathered impressive crowds of students and faculty. Jim played the band breaks at the rock clubs, sometimes hitting 5 clubs a night and running from bus to bus all over town to pass his hat following sets of just a few songs.
Jim played wherever there were ears and, after getting a ticket for singing on the street, he did an impromptu set at a Seattle City Council hearing prompting the legalization of street singing in Seattle. He played all the sprouting arts festivals and climbed from the street to the coffee houses to the bigger venues.
He has performed well over 2000 concerts in Seattle alone a big chunk of these as benefits for deserving organizations. He's made hundreds of friends, many of whom he considers his Seattle family.
We invite friends, old and new fans, and folk music devotees to come celebrate Jim's 40th Anniversary in Seattle at the Bathhouse Theatre at Greenlake on Sunday, June 12.
Showtime is 7:30 PM with doors open at 7.
The concert will include songs, stories and some surprises, in an utterly acoustic setting. Yes, that means no sound gear. Lots of musical friends will be invited to the stage including: Artis the Spoonman, Billy Oskay, Erin Corday, Grant Dermody, Joe Martin, Orville Johnson, Sam Weis and maybe more!
