GALERIA CONCERTS @ Galeria West with The Passion of Spanish Flamenco & Dance
The new Galeria Concerts events bring an opportunity for area arts patrons to enjoy a variety of music genres in a comfortable and convenient arts venue. The series is presented by the Galeria West art gallery in association with SunRex Entertainment Group at the Galeria West art gallery, located at 111 Quimby Street in downtown Westfield, NJ. The evening is recommended as an opportunity to enjoy a unique music concert and perhaps a wonderful dining experience of choice at one of several restaurants and cafes in the downtown Westfield business district. The inaugural Galeria Concerts event on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 7pm brings a passionate Spanish flamenco music and dance performance to this wonderfully intimate venue.
Acclaimed flamenco singer, pianist and guitarist David Castellano has experienced over a decade as a professional musician, recording and performing world-wide.  His inner drive for musical perfectionism has sparked the interest of many dance companies and musical artists such as Flamenco diva, Pilar Rioja and European pop fusion group, Alabina.
Pedro Cortes comes from a family of Spanish Gypsy guitarists and began his studies with his father and esteemed Flamenco guitarist Sabicas. Having toured professionally since the age of 17, Pedro has gained international recognition as a soloist and composer. He has toured with Jose Greco and Maria Benitez, and has performed with such artists as Farrucita, La Tati, Merche Esmeralda, Manolete and the late Lola Flores. He has been a guest artist with the St. Louis Opera and the New York Grand Opera, and has been commissioned by and performed as musical director with the Guthrie Theater in the Garcia Lorcas BODAS DE SANGRE. Mr. Cortes is artistic director of his own Flamenco Fusion group, Amanecer Flamenco De Hoy. As a third generation Flamenco guitarist he uses the experience passed down to him by his family to maintain the purity of Flamenco while creating new horizons.
